Because Safeguest measures risk properly, it can stand behind its product with confidence. If guests pay a non-refundable damage fee; Safeguest accepts liability. The position is only tenable because the screening works. That sequence matters.

The rest of the industry has found a more comfortable arrangement. Collect the fee. Don't accept the liability. When damage occurs, the host loses money, time, and goodwill. The platform has already collected its fees. It will not be losing sleep.
