Robert Rigo has worked in various roles in the technology and medical fields since 1999. Robert began their career as a Quality Assurance Officer at Pharmacia & Upjohn in 1999. In 2000, they joined TietoEnator as a Quality Consultant, working with quality assurance, validation, and risk analysis of systems in pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of medical equipment. In 2006, they moved to Sony Mobile Communications as a Project Manager and Test Team Lead, responsible for planning testing to ensure the quality of computer applications released by Sony Ericsson. In 2014, they began work on two Master Thesis Projects at Lund University, one involving the optimization and improvement of an analysis tool written in Python, and the other involving the creation of a Google Chrome add-on to help researchers and students to perform sequence analysis more efficiently. In 2015, they joined the Department of Oncology and Pathology at Lund University as a Research Engineer. Finally, in 2018, they moved to SAGA Diagnostics AB as a Senior Programmer.

Robert Rigo obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Bioinformatics from Lund University between 2014 and 2015. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Molecular Biology from Uppsala University between 1992 and 1996. Robert then continued their studies at Uppsala University from 1996 to 1998, focusing on Computer Science.
