Peter A. Smith

Peter A. Smith, PhD, is the Technical Fellow and Manager of Vision Science and Eye Protection at SAIC, where they lead research on laser bioeffects and advanced eye protection for military personnel. Previously, Smith served as a Senior Principal Scientific Officer at the Royal Air Force Institute of Aviation Medicine and managed the Protection and Performance Department at the Defence Evaluation Research Agency, overseeing a multidisciplinary team and substantial annual revenue. With an extensive background in military biomedical science, Smith has contributed to research on cognitive performance and the effects of pharmacological agents in various environments. They hold a BSc in Biological Sciences, an MSc in Biophysics and Bioengineering, and a PhD in Medicine (Ophthalmology).
