Alaina Smith

Alaina Smith is a seasoned oceanographer and data analyst with extensive experience in analyzing and interpreting large datasets to derive actionable insights. Currently serving as the Oceanographic Program Data Lead at Saildrone, Alaina has previously worked as a Graduate Student Researcher and Data Scientist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where they published high-impact manuscripts and implemented robust quality control processes. Alaina began their career as a Research Intern at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, managing independent research projects and presenting findings at conferences. They hold a PhD in Oceanography from UC San Diego and a BS in Global Environmental Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
