Eric Lindstrom

Dr. Eric Lindstrom is a recognized expert in the field of oceanography and climate science. Eric has spent their career working on issues related to the observing and understanding of the global ocean and its role in the Earth’s climate system.

Dr. Lindstrom began their career as a physical oceanographer at NASA Headquarters in 1997. In this role, they were responsible for providing scientific leadership for the agency’s ocean observing programs. Eric later served as the Climate Focus Area Lead at NASA, where they were responsible for integrating NASA’s climate research programs and ensuring that they were aligned with the agency’s strategic priorities.

In 2009, Dr. Lindstrom was appointed as the Chair of the Ocean Observations Panel for Climate of the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS). In this role, they provided scientific leadership for the development of an integrated global ocean observing system. Eric also served as the Co-Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Global Ocean Observing System from 2012 to 2017.

In 2016, Dr. Lindstrom was appointed to the International Scientific and Technical Advisory Board of AtlantOS, an international project to develop an integrated operational ocean observing system for the Atlantic Ocean. Eric served in this role until 2019.

Currently, Dr. Lindstrom is serving as an Advisor at Salient Predictions, a company that uses artificial intelligence to provide predictive analytics for businesses and organizations.

Eric Lindstrom received their PhD in Physical Oceanography from the University of Washington. Eric also received their MS in Physical Oceanography from the University of Washington. Eric received their BSc in Earth and Planetary Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
