Peter Karanja

Peter Karanja has a diverse and extensive work history. Peter currently holds the position of Senior Director - Site Operations at Sama, where their responsibilities include leading site operations, developing growth strategies, managing teams, and ensuring process improvement. Prior to Sama, they worked as the Operations Director at Spark MicroGrants, optimizing budget allocation and implementing budget controls. Peter also served as Snr Manager, Programs, and Operations at Andela, where they achieved a reduction in department overspend and improved budget prioritization. Before that, they were the Insights and Innovation Manager at Co-operative Bank of Kenya, where they led a team in designing and implementing online account opening and loan origination systems. Peter also defined an innovation management framework to improve staff engagement. Earlier in their career, Peter held various roles at Commercial Bank of Africa, including Business Model Implementation Manager and Manager - Innovation, where they played a key role in developing transformation strategies, launching smart branches, and implementing cost-saving initiatives. Peter also gained experience as a System Developer at Kenya Airways, developing applications for staff and external customers, and as a Super User Oracle ERP - Supply Chain and Assistant Executive - IT at Pwani Oil Group, where they focused on process improvement and IT maintenance. Throughout their career, Peter has demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills in various industries.

Peter Karanja earned a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) from 2007 to 2010. Peter then pursued a Master's degree in Project Planning and Management at the University of Nairobi from 2012 to 2024. Prior to their university education, Peter Karanja obtained their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) from Mother of Apostles Seminary from 2003 to 2006. In addition to their academic qualifications, Peter Karanja also holds the Prince 2 Practitioner certification from EXIN, which they obtained in 2016.
