Elizabeth Surfus has had a successful career in the education industry. Elizabeth began their career in 2005 as a Corps Member at Teach For America, where they taught mathematics courses at Oakland Senior High School and co-led a district program to accelerate learning for students not on track to pass the CA exit exam (CAHSEE) in mathematics. In 2008, they received a London Starting Bloc Fellowship from StartingBloc and collaborated with other leaders committed to improving education through social entrepreneurship. Elizabeth also began working as the Chief Product Officer at SameGoal Inc, a documentation, management and compliance platform for K-12 Special Programs, including Special Education, Section 504, Advanced Learners, English Learners, RTI/MTSS & K-4 Literacy. In this role, they work with the product and district partnerships teams to ensure SameGoal meets the on-the-ground needs for K12 districts.
Elizabeth Surfus attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2000-2005, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Elizabeth then attended Stanford University in 2015, where they were part of the StartX Accelerator S15 program.
