Emily Lichvar

Chief, Child, Adolescent and Family Branch

Emily Lichvar, Ph.D., is currently the Chief of the Child, Adolescent and Family Branch at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a role they began in 2023 after serving as a Public Health Advisor at SAMHSA from 2015 to 2022. In addition to their leadership position, Emily is an adjunct faculty member at Montgomery College, Pace University, and the University of Maryland Baltimore County. They have held various academic and research roles, including Visiting Assistant Professor at Manhattan College and Research Assistant at prestigious institutions such as Columbia University and Yale University. Emily earned a Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from Fordham University, where they also obtained two Master's degrees.
