Laboratory Specialist at Sampled

Aleessa Akegnan has a diverse work experience. Aleessa started working at Friendship Family Day Care in 2012 as an Assistant Caregiver, where they assisted caregivers and provided tutoring to children. In 2016, they worked as a Genetics Lab Research Assistant at Seton Hall University, assisting in bone fracture healing research and conducting laboratory tasks. During the same period, they also worked as an Educational Opportunity Program Math Tutor, providing math tutoring to students. In 2018, Aleessa participated in the Biomedical Careers Program at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where they shadowed physicians and engaged in academic enrichment activities. Aleessa joined RWJBarnabas Health in 2019 as an Emergency Room Medical Scribe, responsible for documenting patient information in real time and ensuring accuracy in electronic medical records. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Sampled as a Laboratory Specialist.

Aleessa Akegnan completed their education with a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences, General from Rutgers University - Newark between 2020 and 2022. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, General from Seton Hall University from 2015 to 2019. Aleessa finished their high school education at Marist High School, earning a General Studies diploma from 2011 to 2015.
