Jianhua Chu

Principal Scientist at Sampled

Jianhua Chu's work experience includes roles at several notable organizations.

From 2021 to the present, they have been a Senior Scientist of Genome Editing at Legend Biotech.

In 2020, they worked as a Principal Scientist at Infinity BiologiX, where they provided managerial and high-level technical/scientific support in the operation of the Advanced Sample Processing Laboratory. Jianhua'sresponsibilities included identifying and implementing new scientific and technical aspects of gene editing, iPSC cell culture, and differentiation.

From 2016 to 2020, Jianhua served as the Assistant Director at RUCDR Infinite Biologics. In this role, they led a team that provided CRISPR-based gene editing services for academic and industrial clients. Jianhua successfully delivered over 100 gene edited human iPSC lines of various mutations covering diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson's Disease, and Huntington's Disease. Additionally, they established a high throughput and cost-efficient workflow for precision and footprint-free gene editing using CRISPR/Cas9 and homology directed repair.

From 2012 to 2016, they worked as a Postdoc at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where they investigated the Pten/mTOR pathway functions in the maturation of human interneurons using genome-engineered hPSCs. Jianhua also played a role in creating Lhx6 reporter human ESC lines and Pten flox/flox conditional KO ES lines using CRISPR/Cas.

Jianhua's career also includes a Postdoc position at Columbia University from 2007 to 2011, where they investigated the Nodal signaling pathway in epiblast stem cell (EpiSCs) self-renewal and pluripotency. Jianhua demonstrated the essential function of the EGF-CFC gene in patterning the pre-gastrulation embryo.

Lastly, they began their research career as a Research Associate at Rutgers University from 2002 to 2007.

Jianhua Chu obtained a PhD in developmental biology from Rutgers University, where they studied from 2001 to 2007.
