Lars Kongsbak

Lars Kongsbak is the CEO of Samplix, a software company that provides solutions for processing and analyzing large volumes of data. Lars has over 20 years of experience in the life sciences industry, including stints as the president and CEO of Exiqon and as an independent board member of Bluebee.

Kongsbak began their career in 2000 as the president and CEO of Exiqon, a life science research company that specializes in nucleic acid detection. Lars was responsible for Exiqon's transition from a research company to a commercial enterprise, launching its first product in 2004. In 2015, Exiqon launched a full product offering for RNA analysis based on its proprietary Locked Nucleic Acid (LNA) technology. The product offering encompassed sample isolation, real-time PCR products, functional analysis products, NGS products, and advanced cloud-based software tools for data analysis. Under Kongsbak's leadership, Exiqon's sales grew 25% in 2015, with total revenue reaching 25 million USD.

In 2016, QIAGEN acquired Exiqon for 108 million USD. Kongsbak continued to lead the Exiqon team as a business unit within QIAGEN until April 2017, when they left to become an independent board member of Bluebee. Bluebee is a cloud-based genomics analysis platform that enables fast, efficient, and affordable processing of large volumes of genomic and clinical data. In June 2020, BlueBee was acquired by Illumina.

Kongsbak has a background in computer science and holds a master's degree in business

Lars Kongsbak has a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Technical University of Denmark, as well as a degree in Biology from Holte Gymnasium. Lars also attended Gl Holte Skole.
