Christopher Barnett

Christopher Barnett is a highly experienced data engineer and educator with a robust background in data science and chemistry. Currently serving as a Senior Data Engineer at Sand Technologies since October 2025, Christopher has held various significant roles including Pod Manager: Data Science at alx_africa, and Programme Lead for Full-Time Data Science at Sand Technologies. Prior experience includes leadership positions at ExploreAI, where Christopher was Head of Full-time Delivery and Head Teacher, as well as multiple academic roles at the University of Cape Town, including Lecturer and Research Officer. Christopher holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry, along with a Master's degree and a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Chemistry from the same institution, complemented by undergraduate studies in Chemistry and additional training through Coursera and Canadian Bioinformatics Workshops.
