Aidan Smith is a dedicated campaigns professional with extensive experience in the charity sector. Currently serving as a Campaigns Officer at Sands since November 2023, Aidan is responsible for establishing a new local campaigning function to support individuals affected by baby loss. Previously, Aidan held positions such as Interim Campaigning and Activism Lead at the National Deaf Children's Society, where planning and delivering campaigns for deaf children’s families was a key focus, and Campaigns and Public Affairs Officer at Mencap, leading efforts to challenge injustices faced by families with disabled children. Additional experience includes roles at Independent Age, Alzheimer’s Society, and Royal Holloway Students' Union, complemented by a degree in Ancient History from Royal Holloway, University of London.

Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, was founded in 1978 by a small group of bereaved parents, and parents and families remain at the core of everything we do. Sands operates throughout the UK and its purpose is: - To support anyone affected by the death of a baby - Work in partnership with healthcare professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care - To promote improvements in practice and fund research to help reduce the number of babies dying We depend on the extraordinary energies of our supporters to raise the vital funds that we need to deliver the wide range of services that we offer.
