SANE
Dr. Mark Cross is an experienced psychiatrist with a vast background in mental health, currently serving as a patron for SANE since stepping down from the board in November 2022, focusing on fundraising and marketing. As a member of the Board of Directors for Ramsay Macarthur Clinic and Ramsay Wentworthville Clinic since February 2014, Dr. Cross provides psychiatric consultation and management in private practice in Campbelltown, NSW. Previously, roles included consultant psychiatrist at Northside Cremorne Clinic, senior staff specialist psychiatrist at Campbelltown Hospital, and staff specialist psychiatrist at Liverpool Hospital, where Dr. Cross held the position of Clinical Director of Psychiatry. The educational background includes an MRCPsych from the Royal College of Psychiatrists in London and an MBChB from the University of Cape Town. Notably, Dr. Cross contributed significantly to the establishment of psychiatric services in South Africa during the early 1990s.

SANE
SANE supports all people in Australia affected by complex mental health issues. We exist to break barriers, raise expectations, and champion the voices of people with lived experience and their families and communities; to increase peer-led, connected support and drive systemic change. SANE is unique in our focus of supporting people who experience complex mental health issues, trauma, and supporting the mental health of those who are autistic and people with intellectual disability. We provide a range of free digital and telehealth support services including peer support, counselling, community forums, peer-led groups, art and social groups and information resources. SANE is widely respected as a lived experience-led organisation and advocate with a long history of collaboration across and beyond the mental health and suicide prevention sectors. Guided by our vision, goals, values and behaviours, we help create brighter futures for all people and families facing the challenges of complex mental health issues by working towards ending mental health inequity and social and economic exclusion.
