Thomas Forsten

Thomas Forsten has extensive experience in the field of internal audit and risk assessment. Thomas has held several leadership positions throughout their career, starting with Ernst & Young Finland in 2002, where they worked as an Auditor. Thomas then joined Lemminkäinen Oyj as an Internal Auditor in 2005, responsible for designing, developing, and performing audit procedures and reviews.

In 2009, Forsten moved to Veikkaus Oy in the role of Internal Auditor, where they were responsible for annual internal audit planning and execution. Thomas also served as the Secretary of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors during this time.

Forsten returned to Lemminkäinen Oyj in 2012, this time as the Head of Group Internal Audit and Director. In this role, they were responsible for the annual internal audit planning and execution of the Lemminkäinen Group. Thomas also managed investigations throughout the group and reported to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

In 2018, Forsten took on the role of Head of Group Internal Audit and Director at YIT - Construction and Building company. After the merger of Lemminkäinen and YIT, they were responsible for the Group Internal Audit function, including annual planning, execution, and reporting to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. Later in 2018, they joined Sanoma as the Head of Group Internal Audit, where their responsibilities include heading the Audit & Assurance function and reporting to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

Thomas Forsten obtained a Master's degree in Economic Sciences from Åbo Akademi University, from 1997 to 2002. In addition, they have obtained several certifications including the COSO Enterprise Risk Management Certificate, the Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), and the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. The years of completion for the certifications are 2010, 2012, and 2020 respectively.
