John van Dam is the Group Leader of Bioinformatics at Sanquin, where they focus on characterizing complex biological systems related to blood function and disorders through various bioinformatic approaches. From 2016 to 2019, John worked as a Scientific Researcher at Utrecht University. Prior to this, they were a Post-Doctoral researcher in Bioinformatics at Radboudumc from 2010 to 2016, and a PhD student at UMC Utrecht from 2006 to 2010, studying molecular evolution through sequence analysis. John holds a PhD in Bioinformatics and two Master’s degrees in Theoretical Biology & Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology, obtained from Utrecht and Leiden Universities, respectively.
