Joe Cunningham

Founding Managing Director at Santé

Joe co-founded Santé Ventures in 2006 and is nationally recognized for his expertise across healthcare delivery systems, physician associations and compensation models. Prior to founding Santé, he was a healthcare Venture Partner with Austin Ventures and Vice Chair of Ascension Health Ventures’ investment committee. He was also Chief Medical Officer of Providence Health System and Executive Director of the Providence Health Alliance, both of which belong to the Ascension healthcare organization.

Joe currently serves on advisory boards for Health Services Corporation (Blue Cross Blue Shield) and United Healthcare. He is also is on the boards of Cleveland Clinic Innovations, Partners Innovations (Harvard Medical School), The Massachusetts General Hospital, and The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and is a strategic advisor to Texas A&M School of Engineering. He is board-certified in internal medicine, quality assurance and peer review.

Joe earned his MBA from Baylor University, his MD from Texas A&M University and received his BS from Texas A&M University.
