Peter Wang is currently an advisor at Saturn Cloud, but they have held many other positions in the tech industry over the past two decades. Peter was the CTO and co-founder of Continuum Analytics from December 2011 to August 2017, where they were responsible for technology development, product vision, customer relationships, business development, and marketing & communications. Prior to that, they were the director of technical architecture and a senior software developer at Enthought, Inc. from October 2004 to January 2011. At Enthought, they designed, authored, and maintained core libraries, and gained tremendous experience with scientific computing in Python, using Numpy & Scipy. Peter also fronted the line interface with customers and clients, and managed teams and projects across many domains.
Some of the notable projects Wang has worked on include developing a RiskMetrics-like VAR system from scratch, an interactive graphing tool that zoomed from subsecond to multi-decade, and an expression-based plotting tool for realtime display of market/ops data. Peter also developed a plugin-based app framework for a credit risk system for a major IB, which included innovative, richly interactive graphics for analyzing results. In addition to their work in finance, Wang has also worked extensively in geophysics and medical imaging. Peter led the development of a dental implant planning app that displayed volume renderings of CT data and allowed dentists position virtual implants into the 3D data. The app was internationalized into four languages and was cross platform between Windows and Mac.
Wang is also a core developer for the Enthought Tool Suite, a set of libraries for scientific application development in Python. Peter has also authored and maintained the Chaco plotting toolkit, a unique toolkit for building interactive plots that handles large datasets.
Peter Wang has a BA in Physics from Cornell University. Peter also attended Hixson High School and MLK.
