Derek Sunderman

SVP, Transmission at Savion

Derek Sunderman is the Senior Vice President of Transmission at Savion. Derek has over fifteen years of experience in the energy industry, with a focus on transmission and power sales.

Sunderman began their career in 2003 with Kansas City Power & Light, where they worked in power sales origination. In 2009, they joined Tradewind Energy, Inc. as Vice President of Transmission. In this role, Sunderman led efforts to interconnect Tradewind's portfolio of wind and solar resources to the transmission grid. Derek also administered generation interconnection activities, evaluated interconnection study results, provided siting recommendations for optimal resource size / Point of Interconnection, and developed solutions for congestion/curtailment mitigation via sponsored network upgrades.

In 2019, Sunderman joined Savion as Senior Vice President of Transmission. In this role, they are responsible for leading the company's transmission planning, operations, and maintenance activities.

Derek Sunderman received their BSEE from the University of Arkansas in Electrical Engineering.
