Richard Weir has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in communications and journalism. Richard began their career as a Writer on Retainer/ Stringer for The New York Times from 1996 to 2000, where they contributed to the Sunday City Section and reported on breaking news and special investigations. Richard then worked as a Staff Writer for the New York Daily News from 2000 to 2008, covering major crime and breaking news stories, including the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Richard also covered criminal justice issues on Long Island.

In 2008, Richard joined the Boston Herald as a Staff Writer and City Hall Bureau Chief. Richard reported on Boston's political landscape, wrote investigative articles on public corruption, covered major breaking news events like the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and Boston Marathon Bombing, and wrote travel stories on various destinations around the world. Richard worked at the Boston Herald until 2015.

From 2015 to 2018, Richard served as the Director of Communications for the Boston Public Schools, where they directed all aspects of external and internal communications for the nation's top-performing large, urban school district. In this role, they oversaw media relations, crisis communications, web-news updates, social media, and the production of districtwide publications, among other responsibilities.

After their time with the Boston Public Schools, Richard worked as the Director of Corporate Communications and Public Relations for Pearson K-12 Learning from 2019 to 2020. In this role, they managed corporate communications and public relations strategies for the company.

Currently, Richard is the Director of Corporate Communications and Public Relations at Savvas Learning Company, a position they have held since 2020. In this role, they continue to oversee corporate communications and public relations for the company.

Richard Weir attended Clark University for their undergraduate studies and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Richard then pursued further education at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where they earned a Master of Science degree in an unspecified field of study.
