Shaan Akbar

Shaan Akbar is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in education and technology. Currently serving as Co-Founder of Tutored by Teachers, Shaan focuses on advancing equity in education through virtual instruction for underserved communities. As a Pahara Fellow, Shaan contributes to the transformation of public education to empower every child. Shaan also provides advisory services for Savvy Programmers, enhancing Shopify merchants' operations. Previous leadership roles include Vice President and Director of Games Publishing at NBCUniversal, where strategic oversight and operational execution led to significant growth in gaming revenues. Additional experience includes positions at The Walt Disney Company, Driehaus Private Equity, Green Phoenix Ventures, Disney Theatrical Group, and Merrill Lynch & Co. Shaan holds an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship, an MA in International Relations, and a BS in Finance and Political Science from prestigious institutions, alongside early career experience in the New Jersey Governor's Office.
