Sawazisha MedTech Labs is a health innovation and venture building lab dedicated to advancing equitable maternal and child healthcare across East Africa. We design and translate medical technologies that respond directly to unmet clinical needs observed in real healthcare settings.

Founded through the Biodesign innovation approach, our work begins at the bedside, where clinicians, engineers, and scientists work together to understand problems deeply before developing solutions. This need driven process allows us to create technologies that are practical, affordable, and scalable within low resource environments.

Our focus spans maternal health, neonatal care, and accessible diagnostic systems, with particular attention to preventing childbirth related injuries, improving newborn survival, and strengthening frontline healthcare delivery. By integrating materials science, clinical insight, engineering design, and implementation strategy, we move innovations from early concept through validation toward real world adoption.

Beyond product development, Sawazisha MedTech Labs serves as a platform for collaboration across healthcare systems, academia, industry, and policy. We believe meaningful innovation happens when local expertise leads and global partnerships enable scale.
