Colton Smith

Colton Smith has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering, data science, and technology management. Colton is currently working at Sayari | Commercial Risk Intelligence as a Data Engineer. Prior to that, they worked at Secureworks as a Data Engineer, where they maintained and developed features for data integration workflows and implemented large-scale data pipelines on distributed cloud infrastructure. Colton also worked as a Data Scientist at Tekla Research, Inc., applying advanced analytics to assess the quality of fighter jet artillery and saving significant costs through statistical analysis. Before that, Colton worked as a Student Consultant Analyst at U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command, delivering new data products and improving data processing capabilities. Colton also gained experience as a Data & Operations Scientist Intern at Principal Financial Group, where they developed Python libraries for testing data and automated manual testing processes. Colton has additional experience in administrative management at Connext LLC and cybersecurity research as a Cyber Security Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University.

Colton Smith pursued their education chronologically, beginning in 2015 at Weber State University. Colton completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems in 2019. Following this, they enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy in 2019 and completed their Master of Information Systems Management in 2020.
