Ryan Bates

Ryan Bates is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at SB Energy (SoftBank Group), a position held since 2020. They previously served as Assistant General Counsel at NRG Energy and Clearway Energy Group, contributing notably to the renewables sector. Ryan has also been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County since 2015 as a member of the Board of Directors. Their early legal career includes roles as an Associate at Morrison & Foerster LLP and Latham & Watkins. Ryan holds a BS in Finance and Classics from the University of Arizona and is pursuing a JD from Northwestern University School of Law.
