A "Banker to Banker" sales model, the SBA Loan Exchange is an online platform for banks (or loan brokers) to buy and sell good loans. 

On a regular basis, banks reject sound loans for reasons unrelated to the quality of the loan - geography, industry, bad mood, etc. The SBA Loan Exchange keeps those rejected customers from having to start at "square one" and facilitates banks to service loans they otherwise wouldn't have access to.

If, for example, “Bank A” has a good loan come through but it's in a geographic area they aren’t willing to service. Instead of rejecting it, they can place it on The Exchange with a simple summary sheet.  The team at The Exchange analyzes, prescreens, and underwrites the opportunity and then places it on the platform for the world of bankers to see.  Then “Bank B” finds the loan and funds it. 

Once the loan has closed, Bank B pays a referral fee to The Exchange, while Bank A receives 1/2 of that fee just for referring the loan to the Exchange. It’s that simple.

Rejecting a loan can damage the relationship the bank has with their customer by sending them to another bank. A customer then has to “shop around” to different banks making them very frustrated and disenchanted with their usual bank. By suggesting and using The Exchange, banks can strengthen their relationships with their customers, showing them the value of their business, while receiving compensation on the loan when it closes just for the effort.
