Sberbank Hungary (known as Volksbank Hungary before 1 November 2013) has been operating successfully in the Hungarian market since 1993.

The main shareholder is Sberbank Europe AG, that was acquired by the Russian Sberbank in February 2012. The capital adequacy, banking culture, financial know-how, product intelligence and commitment represented by Sberbank will guarantee the long-term success and a stable operation of our Bank.

Sberbank Europe Group is present in 11 markets in Europe: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo and Banja Luka), Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine and Germany. The banking group is headquartered in Vienna and operates in total 280 branches.

Sberbank of Russia is the largest bank in Russia and holds almost one third of all Russian banking sector assets. The Central Bank of the Russian Federation is the founder and major shareholder of Sberbank, owning 50% of the total share capital plus one voting share. Other shares are held by more than 245 000 individual and institutional investors. Sberbank is present in 22 countries including the CIS, Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey.

Sberbank was awarded “Bank of the Year 2012” by The Banker magazine and “Best Bank in CEE and Russia 2013” by the Euromoney magazine.
