David Markwell

David Markwell is an experienced and strategic business and technology leader currently serving as the Executive Vice President and Chief Technology and Analytics Officer at Loblaw Companies Limited, where they drive the company's technological strategy. They are also the Interim President of Shoppers Drug Mart and a member of the Loblaw Management Board, as well as an Officer of President's Choice Bank. David is committed to education as an Adjunct Professor at both the Smith School of Business at Queen's University and the Schulich School of Business at York University, where they teach courses on technology strategy and innovation. With a strong focus on talent management and sustainability, David actively advocates for Loblaw's ESG initiatives and mentors high-potential talent within the organization. They are currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration at Athabasca University and hold various board positions, including Chairman of the Board for the Shoppers Foundation For Women’s Health.
