Despo Thoma is an experienced professional in the fields of architecture, urban design, and resilience planning, currently serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation. Since May 2019, Thoma has held the position of Director of Resilience at SCAPE Landscape Architecture DPC, leading various resilience and urban design initiatives, including projects like the Massachusetts ResilientCoasts Plan and the Battery Park City North-West Resiliency Project. Thoma has also contributed to multiple organizations, such as the Urban Design Forum, One Architecture & Urbanism, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, encompassing roles from Senior Designer to Board Member. Thoma holds a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University and a Diploma in Architect Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.
