Matthias Van Gompel

Matthias Van Gompel is currently a Senior Application Engineer at SCHOTT, where they coordinate the production of advanced optical coatings for augmented reality applications. Previously, Matthias held roles as Chief Technology Officer and R&D Project Manager at COMELEC SA, where they led research and development on multilayer coatings for implantable devices. They also served as a Postdoctoral researcher at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, focusing on thin film development, and worked as a Fellow at CERN, designing systems to enhance accelerator tube performance. Matthias earned a PhD in Physics from Hasselt University, where their research involved transparent conductive oxides and their applications.
