Aarati Ranade

Director, Cell-Based Assay Division at ScitoVation

Dr. Aarati Ranade is the Director of the Cell-Based Assay Division at ScitoVation. Dr. Ranade’s research focuses on the development of in-vitro liver models for various applications ranging from metabolic profiling to chemical-induced liver toxicity.

Dr. Ranade possesses in-depth knowledge of liver physiology and has wide-ranging experience in hepatocyte models generated from embryonic stem cells, iPS-derived hepatocytes, human and rat hepatocytes, HepaRG cells, and humanized mouse model systems. She possesses strong expertise in in-vitro 2D and 3D hepatocyte cell culture techniques.

Dr. Ranade completed her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, PA. Her research involved extensive study and characterization of human hepatocytes with the goal to study the effect of various endogenous and exogenous chemicals on drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters in human hepatocytes. As part of her first postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, her research was focused on the generation of hepatocytes using stem cell-based approaches. Dr. Ranade pursued her second postdoctoral fellowship in lung cancer research at Translation Genomics Research Institute (TGen), AZ. She led the discovery of biomarker micro-RNAs as a predictor of chemo-resistance and survival in non-small cell lung cancer. Dr. Ranade also identified key micro-RNAs associated with metastasis of lung cancer to the brain and a potential biomarker from serum for early detection of pancreatic cancer.

Dr. Ranade has presented her research findings at various national and international meetings and her work has been published in high-impact scientific journals.
