Melissa Norem began their work experience in 2002 at Archer Daniels Midland as a Millfeed Trader, where they traded the production of various flour mills and coordinated marketing and logistics. Melissa then worked at Scoular, starting in 2006 as a Cross-Country Trader & Merchandiser, responsible for the marketing and logistical execution of trades in Central Kansas and Southern Nebraska. Melissa later became a Distillers Trader, helping to develop Scoular's distillers grain trading group for ethanol plants in Kansas and Texas. Melissa also worked as a Cross-Country Trader & Merchandiser, extending their trade territory and leading efforts in purchasing retiring customer's grain elevators. Melissa then served as a Rail Merchandiser, trading Hard Red Winter wheat to domestic flour mills and originating wheat for Scoular's export wheat program. In their most recent role at Scoular, they served as the Senior Business Unit Manager, developing in trade and management roles, including assisting Senior Management during transition years. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Producer Strategy at Scoular, where they lead initiatives in defining the company's role for producers in the supply chain, focusing on technology, producer outreach, risk management, and regenerative agriculture.
Melissa Norem earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Economics from Simpson College in the years 1998 to 2002. Currently, they are pursuing an Executive MBA from Iowa State University - Ivy College of Business, expected to be completed between 2022 and 2024.
