But the story doesn't end here. According to Bloomberg, Indian landfills comprise 60% organic waste. This organic waste, in landfills, undergoes anaerobic reaction and produces Methane gas (CH4), which is the second largest Greenhouse Gas and 25 times more potent than Carbon dioxide (CO2). On March 22, 2022, the Ghazipur dump leaked an estimated 2.17 metric tonnes of methane in an hour.
