Joao Leal

Joao Leal is a Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientist who is currently the Co-Founder & Head of Data Science at Screenloop. Joao has previously worked as an MLE & Product Owner at Revolut and as a Software Engineer & Data Scientist at Novabase.

Leal has experience in the domain of FinCrime and has helped to improve KYC processes through the research and development of deep learning models. Joao has also been responsible for designing and deploying the initial architecture to handle the expensive Computer Vision related operations using asynchronous workflows.

Leal has received multiple Strong (top 15%) performer reviews and has been instrumental in saving the company money by automating labour intensive tasks.

Joao Leal has a Master's degree in Computer Science from Universidade de Coimbra. Joao also has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Universidade de Coimbra. In addition, they have a Master's degree in Computer Science from Chalmers University of Technology. Joao also has certification from Coursera in Sequence Models (Recurrent Neural Networks), Machine Learning - Stanford University, Convolutional Neural Networks, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, and Structuring Machine Learning Projects.
