Harlan Mandel

Harlan Mandel is the CEO of the Media Development Investment Fund, an organization that provides financing to independent news companies in regions where media freedom is under threat. Since joining MDIF in 1998, Harlan has held various roles, including Deputy Managing Director, and has overseen investments in over 130 media companies across 44 countries. Harlan's expertise in impact investment is complemented by extensive experience as a legal professional, including serving as Deputy General Counsel at the Open Society Institute. They hold a Juris Doctor from Columbia University and a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations and Asian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
