Fidel Ramirez

Fidel Ramirez is a seasoned bioinformatician and scientist with extensive experience in the fields of bioinformatics, data science, and single-cell genomic research. Currently serving as a Senior Principal Scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim since May 2018, Fidel has also contributed as an open-source contributor to Scanpy, focusing on the visualization of single-cell data. Prior roles include Senior Bioinformatician at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics, where coordination of research projects and data analysis for various NGS techniques were key responsibilities. Experience at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics involved the integration of genetic and proteomic data into a relational database for data mining. Earlier roles included leading web development at Webenlinea S.A. and database development at RF Labs EU. Educational qualifications comprise a PhD in Bioinformatics from the Max Planck Institute for Informatics and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
