Derek Young

Derek Young has extensive experience in the maritime and environmental services sectors, currently serving as a 2nd Assistant Engineer at Seabulk since August 2019, after previously holding the position of 3rd Assistant Engineer. Prior roles include environmental services at the Marine Biological Laboratory from December 2017 to August 2019, where responsibilities involved maintaining facilities and thorough cleaning of workspaces, and a seasonal position on the grounds crew at the same organization in 2015. Additional experience includes working as a 3rd Assistant Engineer on the M/V Black Eagle for Fortune Maritime, Inc., and as an Engine Cadet on the M/V Pelican State with Crowley Maritime. Derek Young holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, along with a minor in Mechanical Engineering, from Massachusetts Maritime Academy, completed in 2013.
