Unkyong Hand is a highly experienced engineering professional with a focus on firmware development and customer engagement in the data storage industry. Currently serving as the Director of Enterprise Customer HDD Firmware at Seagate Technology since October 2017, Unkyong leads teams across the US and Asia to support Cloud Service Providers and ensure high-quality firmware delivery. Prior experience at Seagate includes roles as Core Team Lead and Technical Program Manager, where Unkyong successfully led the development of the industry-leading 16TB Nearline HDD, significantly contributing to over $4 billion in revenue. Unkyong's career also includes engineering roles at Toshiba, Maxtor, and Quantum, alongside a robust educational background with a BS in Control Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, complemented by leadership training from Thayer Leadership in 2022.
