Senior Data Scientist at Sealed

Joseph Harder is currently working as a Senior Data Scientist at Sealed since December 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Data Scientist at Spin from November 2021 to December 2022. From October 2018 to October 2021, Joseph worked as a Lead Data Scientist at Nacci, where they were responsible for designing a charting API for interactive D3 charts and building social listening tools for the US government. Joseph also managed a team of two data analysts and provided guidance on strategy and implementation of proprietary tools. Before joining Nacci, Joseph was a Data Science Fellow at Insight Data Science in 2018, where they built an NLP classifier to predict the publication of origin of news articles and created a web app called FitToPrint. Joseph also had the opportunity to work as a Newberry Open Data Grant recipient at The Newberry, where they studied trends and sentiment in digitized pamphlets from the French Revolution and presented the results in a web app. Joseph started their career as a Graduate Student Researcher at Columbia University, where they managed data generation and analysis pipelines, developed software suites for simulations, and designed numerical simulations of bio-physical systems. Joseph also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Columbia University, conducting experiments and preparing laboratory manuals. Prior to that, Joseph gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of California, Berkeley, where they developed software simulations and worked on advanced materials design. Joseph also worked as a Library Clerk during their time at Berkeley.

Joseph Harder received their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, from 2008 to 2012. Joseph then pursued further education at Columbia University, where they completed their Master of Arts (MA) degree from 2012 to 2014. Joseph's academic journey continued at Columbia University, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Physics from 2012 to 2017.
