SeaLion Energy builds machines that protect the rare, expensive minerals inside the batteries powering our electrified world. Batteries fail when mineral particles crack and lose electrical contact; SeaLion’s technology “saran-wraps” these particles, restoring connectivity and preventing degradation. Through nanoscale polymer coatings and regeneratiion, we can deliver up to 10× longer life, 2–4× faster charging, and 80–90% fewer replacements. Founded in 2023 at Carnegie Mellon University, SeaLion has secured $2.5 M in angel investments and grants including ARPA-E, achieved third-party validation, and is on track for kilogram-scale production in 2026.
