Michael Ritter

Michael Ritter has a diverse work experience in the field of IT and cybersecurity. Michael currently works as a Principal Security Consultant at SEC Consult Group since 2023. Before that, they were a Team Lead Pentesting at Pentest Factory GmbH from 2017 to 2022.

Prior to their role at Pentest Factory GmbH, Michael worked at Deloitte from 2014 to 2017. Michael'srole there was Cyber Security Consultant in the Cyber Risk Services department. During their time at Deloitte, they were responsible for coordinating and managing international penetration tests for DAX-30 companies, conducting vulnerability assessments, performing source code analysis, and designing and conducting training sessions for developers.

Before joining Deloitte, Michael had experience as an Intern and working student in the Penetration Testing department at Deloitte from 2014 to 2016. Michael also worked as an IT Specialist at Justus-Liebig University Giessen from 2011 to 2015, where they were involved in database development and maintenance, data analysis, website maintenance, and user helpdesk.

Additionally, Michael gained research experience as part of the Research Apprenticeship Program at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, where they supported a research project on using Twitter for situational awareness in public health.

Michael also has experience in international travel, having embarked on a Work and Travel adventure in Australia from 2009 to 2011.

Earlier in their career, Michael began their professional journey as an IT Specialist apprentice at KoCoNet GmbH from 2005 to 2008. Michael also worked as a freelance research assistant and performed community service at the Children's Heart Center in Gießen from 2008 to 2009.

Michael Ritter's education history includes a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Information Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, obtained from 2013 to 2014. Michael also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Information Technology from Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen, completed between 2011 and 2015. Additionally, Michael obtained a High School Diploma in Information Technology from Max-Eyth-Schule Alsfeld from 2003 to 2005.

In terms of certifications, Michael obtained an Offensive Security Experienced Penetration Tester (OSEP) certification from Offensive Security in October 2022. Michael also holds an Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification from the same institution, obtained in January 2017. Furthermore, Michael earned a Certified Red Team Expert (CRTE) certification from Pentester Academy in July 2020 and a Certified Red Team Professional (CTRP) certification from the same institution in January 2020.
