Jean Verster

Jean Verster started working at Firewater Interactive as a Junior Web Developer in April 2016. During this time, they acquired fundamental knowledge in web development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as version control with Git.

In April 2017, Jean joined SovTech as a Frontend Developer. They contributed to the development of a React Native app that won an award and also created a loyalty rewards app for a mobile carrier.

In April 2018, Jean became the Lead Frontend Developer at SovTech, where they led a team of engineers and worked on various projects, including a real-time courier hailing platform.

In April 2020, Jean transitioned to the role of Senior Software Developer at SovTech. They co-authored an internal CLI tool that reduced project delivery time and focused on automating and streamlining development processes.

Finally, Jean joined Secfi in June 2021 as a Senior Frontend Engineer. They worked on optimizing the codebase and driving projects aligned with stakeholder objectives. They also promoted engineering best practices and fostered a culture of continuous learning.

Jean is currently serving as the Senior Frontend Engineer II - Tech Lead at Secfi, where they are responsible for establishing the technical direction and ensuring the successful delivery of projects. They have demonstrated strong skills in TypeScript, React, and Next.

Jean Verster obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics & Sociology from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika between 2011 and 2014. Additionally, they have a certification in MCSD - Programming in HTML5, JavaScript & CSS3 from Microsoft.
