Rúben Fernandes

Rúben Fernandes is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in global healthcare technology, currently serving as the Global Engineering Lead Pathology and HL7 Expert at Sectra since October 2016, where previous roles included Senior Project Engineer and Deployment and Support Engineer. Rúben has a background in 2nd line support for medical imaging and reporting systems across the BeNeLux region and expertise in DICOM, HL7, and SQL Server. In addition, Rúben contributed as a member of the Technical Commission CT 223 at the Portuguese Institute of Quality from January 2022 to July 2024, focusing on the normalization of Artificial Intelligence. Early career experiences include a test internship at SWORD Health and research work in bioengineering at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, complemented by a Master's degree in Medical Computing and Instrumentation Engineering from Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto.
