Michael McLaren

Senior Research Scientist

Michael McLaren is a Senior Research Scientist at SecureBio, where they co-founded the Nucleic Acid Observatory project to develop metagenomics-based systems for detecting future pandemics. Their current research focuses on quantitative comparisons in metagenomics measurements and the dynamics of microbial communities. Previously, they served as a postdoctoral researcher at North Carolina State University, where they worked on improving the accuracy of metagenomics methods, and as a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Michael earned a Ph.D. in Mathematical Biology from Stanford University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
