The Security Benchmark for Salesforce (SBS) defines what “secure” actually means for enterprise Salesforce environments. Recent incident reporting in 2024 and 2025 has shown that breaches are rarely caused by platform flaws, but by inconsistent implementation of identity controls, administrator governance, and OAuth integrations at scale. When overprivileged access and operational discipline break down, legitimate Salesforce capabilities can be abused to enable data exfiltration, lateral movement, and delayed detection.

SBS establishes a clear, practitioner-defined baseline of verifiable security conditions that organizations can measure, audit, and systematically improve over time. Designed for CISOs, security architects, auditors, and system integrators, it translates broad frameworks such as NIST and ISO into concrete, Salesforce-specific expectations. The goal is simple: reduce breach impact, limit blast radius, preserve forensic visibility, and strengthen incident response in mission-critical Salesforce environments.
