Dorian Bates, CISSP, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Beginning in 2014, they worked as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Toronto, where they provided administrative support for MSc/PhD Clinical Epidemiology and Master of Health Informatics programs. In 2015, they served as a Technology and Learning Systems Administrator at the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). Dorian returned to this role in 2016, during which they conducted a security audit, responded to a security breach, and implemented data privacy and security enhancements.

In 2017, Dorian worked as a Senior Systems Administrator on a contract basis for the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. In this role, they oversaw information systems, remediated security audit findings, and implemented security guidelines and policies. Dorian also performed a migration to Windows Server 2016 and initiated high availability and redundancy for file servers.

In 2018, Dorian joined Security Compass as an Associate Security Consultant, specializing in DevSecOps. Dorian later transitioned to the role of Security Consultant, focusing on AppSec and DevSecOps, before becoming a Security Solutions Architect. In January 2023, they transitioned to the position of Software Engineer I.

Additionally, in 2018, Dorian worked as an IT Support Specialist on a contract basis for the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies. Dorian developed and updated web content, provided technical support, and completed development tasks within defined sprints.

Throughout their career, Dorian has demonstrated a strong commitment to enhancing security postures, implementing best practices, and improving endpoint security and access management.

Dorian Bates, CISSP, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Software Development with a focus on Application Security from Seneca College, which they completed from 2013 to 2017. In 2018, they pursued further education in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance through the DEV540: Secure DevOps and Cloud Application Security program at SANS.

In addition to their formal education, Dorian has obtained several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. In 2017, they completed the "Learning Spring with Spring Boot" certification from Lynda.com. Later, in 2018, they acquired the "Advanced Python" certification from LinkedIn. Moving forward, in 2020, they obtained the "Deploying to AWS with Ansible and Terraform" certification from Linux Academy. Dorian continued to expand their expertise by completing the "Scrum: The Basics" certification from LinkedIn in 2021.

Furthermore, Dorian holds notable certifications in the field of information security. Dorian became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) through (ISC)² in July 2021. Dorian also attained the Associate of (ISC)² certification in March 2021. Lastly, to stay up-to-date with the latest developments, Dorian completed the "DevSecOps MasterClass - 2021 Edition" offered by Black Hat in August 2021.
