Marg Walinga

Marg Walinga is the Senior Director of IT at Security Compass. Marg has over 20 years of experience in IT, including strategy, budget, software development, server infrastructure, workstations, security, network and telephony.

Marg started their career at Remco in October 2014 as the Director of IT. Marg was responsible for all IT functions including strategy, budget, software development, server infrastructure, workstations, security, network and telephony. Marg was also responsible for the physical security of the warehouses and transportation terminals.

In their time at Remco, Marg completed a major data centre move without any business interruption. As a national warehousing and trucking business, the company operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Using VMware, and Veeam replication, the new site was created and constantly synchronized to the old site over the network. Over a six week span, they moved the primary management of the data and applications to the new site. Marg also installed a highly available, redundant infrastructure in the new location.

Marg doubled network capacity at all company sites, installed VOIP phones and reduced overall budget. Marg also opened a new warehouse site, ensuring applications, network, and Wifi were operational for launch. In addition, they upgraded Truckmate, the transportation software package, to provide detailed carton barcode scanning on the dock and at the store. Truckmate is integrated with Shaw Mobile software to automatically provide drivers a delivery route, logged arrival and departure times, and carton scanning for the store delivery. Marg also installed Microdea, which is integrated with Truckmate for document scanning and invoicing. Microdea auto populated fields from paper documents, indexed search fields and attached PDF copies directly into Truckmate.

Marg Walinga has a BA in Mathematics from Western University and a Diploma in Technology from Ryerson University.
