Evan Francen

Evan Francen has held a variety of roles in the information security industry since 2005. In 2005, they began their career as an Information Security Consultant for Unitedhealth Group. Evan then moved to eLoyalty Corporation in 2006, where they held the role of Director of Information Security. In 2006, they also began their role as Director of Information Security/Information Security Officer for MGI PHARMA. During their time at MGI PHARMA, they designed, developed, and implemented their first formal information security program. In 2011, they became a member of the Board of Advisors for CloudCover, Ltd. In 2012, they took on the role of Chief Security Officer and Board Member for Security Group Inc. In 2017, they founded SecurityStudio, where they currently hold the role of CEO and Founder. In this role, they have overall responsibility for the success of the SecurityStudio organization and the development, adoption, and maintenance of business plans related to the S2 platform. In 2018, they became a member of the Forbes Technology Council and began co-hosting the UNSECURITY Podcast with Brad Nigh. In 2020, they began co-hosting the Security Shit Show with Ryan Cloutier and Chris Roberts.

Evan Francen attended the University of Minnesota from 1988 to 1990 and studied Geology. Evan obtained the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge from the Cloud Security Alliance in May 2011, the Certified Information Security Manager from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association in January 2008, and the Certified Information Systems Security Professional from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium in March 2005.
