Brendan Smith

Chief Technology Officer at SeekOps Inc.

Brendan Smith's work experience begins in 2010 with a role as NWE Technology at Foxconn. In this position, they assisted with prototype development and organized Bill of Materials (BOM) presentations to customers. Brendan also shadowed engineers and program managers in meetings and client interactions.

In 2012, Brendan continued their role as NWE Technology at Foxconn, where they ensured projects were delivered on schedule and met quality specifications. Brendan also assessed and produced quotes for first run soft-tooling and mass production hard-tooling.

In 2013, Brendan joined UC Merced as a Research Assistant, leading teams of undergraduate students in R&D projects involving unmanned systems and mechanical and A/D sample collection.

In 2016, Brendan started working at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) as a Laser Spectroscopy Applications specialist. During this time, they completed their Ph.D. dissertation, focusing on autonomous intelligent aerial systems for detecting methane leak anomalies.

In 2017, Brendan became the Founder & Chief Operating Officer at SeekOps Inc., where they spun off technology developed at NASA JPL and matured methane sensor technology for industrial field applications. Brendan grew the company's engineering, software, and operations departments, and played a key role in acquiring 36 customers in the oil and gas industry.

Finally, in 2022, Brendan assumed the role of Chief Technology Officer at SeekOps Inc., continuing their work in developing sensor technology for measuring methane emissions.

Brendan Smith completed their Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Merced, from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, they also obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university, studying from 2008 to 2013. In addition to their formal education, Brendan obtained a certification in "Finance and Accounting for the Non-Financial Manager" from Wharton Executive Education in May 2021.
