Greg Gruning

Chief Revenue Officer at Segmint

Greg Gruning has had a long and successful career in business development and partner strategy/activation. Greg began their career in May 2007 as Executive Vice President - Corporate Business Development & Partner Strategy/Activation for INDYCAR. In this role, they were responsible for managing and directing all functions globally for corporate business development, race team and race venue business development, media sales (ABC, ESPN, NBC, Online/Radio/Print), merchandise sales, client service activation and on track hospitality. Greg also had P&L responsibility.

During their time with INDYCAR, Greg was responsible for realigning the sales and client service organizations which yielded an incremental growth in revenue of over $35 million post-merger of Champ Car and Indy Racing League. Greg also secured leading brands as corporate partners to the series, including Chevy, Verizon, Phillips Healthcare, Mazda, Starwood, Avis, Mattel, Firestone, and Sunoco.

In addition, Greg secured and developed a groundbreaking business to business association with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) as the “official energy and trade partner” to the series generating over $900 million in documented business to business growth through their 82 business sectors in two years.

Finally, Greg secured IZOD (PVH company) as the title sponsor of the INDYCAR Series from 2009-2012 (first time in over a decade the series had a title sponsor), and in 2013 secured the new title sponsor of the INDYCAR Series Verizon. Both deals were worth in excess of $10 million per year.

During their time with INDYCAR, Greg also implemented a CRM process for sales and client service organization which drove high levels of customer satisfaction resulting in 95% partner retention and new levels of partner activation around INDYCAR ($39 million in 2008 to over $250 million in 2012). Greg also realigned merchandise partners which yielded year over year revenue growth of 8%.

In June 2013, Greg left INDYCAR to become Chief Revenue Officer at Segmint. In this role, they are responsible for Segmint's revenue growth and profitability. Greg is also responsible for Segmint's sales, marketing, product management, and customer success functions.

Greg Gruning has a BS in Marketing from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business, with a minor in Psychology. Greg has also completed Executive Education programs in Strategic Marketing from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Finance from The Wharton School, and Managerial Excellence from University of Virginia Darden School of Business. In 2006, they received a certification from Champions Training in Black Belt Lean Six Sigma.
