Jon Zeolla

Co-founder And CTO at Seiso

Jon Zeolla has extensive work experience in the field of information security. Jon is currently the Co-Founder and CTO of Seiso, LLC, where they develop cloud native security programs for clients using Kubernetes and serverless systems. In addition to their role as CTO, Jon also leads research and development efforts to continually improve the approaches and tooling utilized by the company.

Jon is also an Instructor at the SANS Institute, where they impart their knowledge and expertise to students. Jon is also a Faculty member at IANS, further demonstrating their commitment to education and knowledge sharing.

Prior to their current roles, Jon served as a Principal Information Security Engineer at Carnegie Mellon University from 2014 to 2020. Before that, they worked as a Senior Security Analyst at American Eagle Outfitters from 2012 to 2014. Starting their career at PNC in 2009, Jon held positions as a Senior Network Security Engineer and later as a DevOps Engineer.

Overall, Jon Zeolla has consistently demonstrated their expertise and leadership in the information security field throughout their career.

Jon Zeolla completed their education in the following order:

1. From 2007 to 2009, Jon attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute and obtained an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Information Technology with a focus on Network Security and Computer Forensics.

2. Also from 2007 to 2009, Jon obtained another A.S. degree from Pittsburgh Technical Institute, this time in Information Technology with a concentration in Network Administration.

3. Jon then proceeded to Robert Morris University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Cyber Forensics and Information Security. Jon studied at Robert Morris University from 2011 to 2013 and successfully completed their degree.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Jon Zeolla holds multiple certifications in the field of information security and technology:

1. In December 2008, Jon obtained the certification of Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer: Security - Server 2003 from Microsoft.

2. In July 2008, they attained the Security+ certification from CompTIA.

3. Jon obtained the GIAC Certified Perimeter Protection Analyst certification from GIAC in January 2012.

4. Jon obtained the Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Administrator - Server 2008 certification from Microsoft in July 2013.

5. In December 2013, Jon received the GIAC Certified Penetration Tester certification from GIAC.

6. Continuing their education, Jon acquired the CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certification in December 2016.

7. In August 2016, they also obtained the GIAC Certified UNIX System Administrator certification from GIAC.

8. Jon received the GIAC Certified Windows Security Administrator certification in September 2014.

9. In August 2019, they achieved the GIAC Secure Software Programmer.NET (GSSP-NET) certification from GIAC.

10. Jon added the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification to their credentials in August 2013.

Moreover, Jon Zeolla holds additional certifications, including the Amazon Web Services Security Specialty certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) obtained in May 2023, the GIAC Cloud Security Automation (GCSA) certification from GIAC Certifications obtained in December 2021, and the CNCF Ambassador certification from The Linux Foundation obtained in March 2023.
